Logging Attempts and Photos

Do I Need to Use the App to Log My Attempts?

  • Yes. Log every attempt, successful or unsuccessful, in the ServeManager mobile app each time you make it. This is required for InfoTrack Exchange and One Legal contractors. See Mandatory ServeManager Mobile App Usage.
  • The app automatically records your GPS location and the time of each attempt. Attempts created on the desktop site don’t include your GPS location.
  • Use the desktop site for office work, like reviewing jobs, and log your attempts in the app.

When Should I Capture My GPS and Photo? Can I Finish the Attempt Later?

  • Capture your GPS and photo as soon as you arrive at the service location, before you approach.
  • Save the attempt as a draft, then complete the details once you’re back in your vehicle or somewhere safe.

What Makes a Good Attempt Photo?

  • Take your photo in the app, at the address.
  • Show identifying features, like the house number, vehicles on the property, visible packages with the recipient’s name, and an overall view of the property.
  • Never include people. Also avoid the inside of your car and views blocked by trees or other obstacles.
  • Include a photo whenever the service type requires one.

Can I Upload a Photo From My Camera Roll?

Attempt photos are taken with the in-app camera. Uploading from your camera roll or photo library is no longer available on ITX and OLFS jobs.

How Do I Add GPS Watermarks To My Attempt Photos?

Go to Account > Settings > Attempt Preferences > Enable GPS Watermark Photos.

What Makes a Good Attempt Description?

  • Say who you spoke with and how they’re connected to the recipient. If they wouldn’t give a name, say so and describe them.
  • Share what they told you, like whether the recipient lives or works there.
  • Note what you saw: packages, names on the mailbox, signs the property is vacant, or anything else that supports your attempt.
  • For substitute service, describe the person you served.
  • For a bad address, explain how you checked, such as talking to neighbors or the leasing office.

Can Someone Else Log Attempts Under My Login?

No. Everyone who serves should have their own login. You’re responsible for everything recorded under your account.

Troubleshooting in the Field

My GPS Coordinates Are Not Showing Up on Attempts. What Do I Do?

Step 1: Turn location services ON
Make sure your mobile device has location services turned on.

Step 2: Reset location services
If location services are on but you’re still not getting GPS data on new attempts, ServeManager may not have permission to access your location.

Click here to learn more about resetting your device’s GPS settings for the ServeManager App.

What If the App Freezes or Crashes?

  • Avoid fully closing the app while you’re logging an attempt. The app needs to keep running in the background for your photo to upload.
  • If the app stops responding, force close it and open it again (iPhone steps · Android steps). Then check that your attempt and photo saved.
  • Keep the app up to date. Turn on automatic updates for iPhone or Android.
  • If problems keep happening, restart your phone or reinstall the app. Make sure your phone meets the minimum requirements: iOS 17 or later, or Android 10 or later.
  • Still stuck? Contact support and tell us your phone model and app version.

What If I Have a Weak Signal or No Signal?

  • Try switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data, and turn off any VPN. VPNs can interfere with the app’s connection.
  • If you don’t have service, save the attempt as a draft and finish uploading it when you’re back in service.

What If It Isn’t Safe to Stay at the Location?

  • Your safety always comes first. If logging any part of an attempt would put you at risk, don’t do it. Move to a safe location and let us know.
  • When you can, capture your GPS and photo before approaching, save the attempt as a draft, and finish the details from somewhere safe.

What If My Photo Won’t Capture?

  • Check that ServeManager has camera access. On iPhone, go to Settings > Apps > ServeManager. On Android, open Settings, tap ServeManager in your app settings, then tap Permissions.
  • Try again while you’re still at the address.
  • If it still won’t work, note what happened in the attempt description and contact support.

Can I Save My Attempt and Finish it Later?

  • Yes you can save your Attempt as a Draft. Saving a draft ensures that any details you’ve already entered along with any captured photos are still saved to your system, perfect for when you’re in an area with poor cell coverage. Click here to learn more

If an Attempt Is Flagged

What Happens If One of My Attempts Gets Flagged?

  • A flag isn’t an accusation. It means something in the attempt record, like the time or location, needs a closer look.
  • Our team may reach out to ask for more details, like a clearer photo or a fuller description. We’ll work through it with you, so you can keep earning.
  • A clear, detailed attempt description is the best way to show what happened.
